Colonoscopy

An endoscopic examination of the colon. A flexible tube with a light and camera is gently passed into the rectum and on to the cecum, which is the very beginning of the colon. The ileum, the last part of the small intestine, is also examined dependent on clinical presentation and technical feasibility. Your physician will be able to thoroughly inspect those areas, remove polyps and biopsy as appropriate.
