Nulytely/Golytely/peg-3350 Preparation

ALL PREPS REQUIRE PURCHASE OF GAS-X TABLETS

  • The day before your colonoscopy, you MAY NOT EAT ANY SOLID FOOD UNTIL
    AFTER YOUR PROCEDURE IS COMPLETED. You may DRINK ONLY CLEAR LIQUIDS.
    Clear liquids include:
  • Water, Black coffee/tea without milk or creamer, Gatorade/Powerade, clear fruit drinks without pulp, apple juice, white grape or white cranberry juice, clear chicken and beef broth, popsicles, Italian ice, 7up, ginger ale, cola, and jello.
  • You MAY NOT have anything with RED, PURPLE or NEON colors.
  • NO DAIRY OR ALCOHOL.

2-Part Prep Instructions: Follow instructions exactly.
First portion of prep instructions:

Pharmacy will supply plastic container filled with powder

  1. Add lukewarm water to the top fill line on the container. This may be mixed and refrigerated in advance, all of it MUST be used within 24 hours.
  2. Cap the container, shake until powder is dissolved.
  3. Between 5 & 7pm drink ½ of container. An eight (8) ounce glass every 15 minutes until ½ is consumed (approx. 8 glasses)
  4. Take two (2) GAS-X tablets ½ hour after drinking the prep.

Second portion of prep begins at prep time that coordinates with your arrival time
texted to you by Bradenton Surgery Center. Please see chart above.

  1. Begin drinking the second ½ of your prep, eight (8) ounce glass every fifteen minutes until completed (approx. eight (8) glasses)
  2. Take two Gas-X tablets ½ hour after completing prop.
  3. Take blood pressure, heart, seizure medications with small sip of water in the
    morning at least two hours before your arrival time as directed by Doctor, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant during your office visit.
  4. If the volume of prep is difficult to complete in 2 hours, you may start the prep an hour earlier to allow you to drink slower. DO NOT DRINK FLUIDS PAST THE TIME DIRECTED IN THE CHART ABOVE as this may interfere with anesthesia.
  5. STOP DRINKING by the FINISH TIME listed on the chart above. DO NOT DRINK ANY OTHER FLUIDS (including water) until after your colonoscopy is completed.
